There is a marker on the desk

Right next to me lies a green-ish Sharpie. What should I do with it? I could mail it to my friend. I could write my dad a thank-you card. I could color on the wall. I could plant it in the garden. I could drop it in a puddle, squish it, poke my sister with it, photocopy it, sing into it, make a movie about it, drop it from the top of a really tall building, write a book, clean the mirror, take it apart and cook it for dinner, flush it down the toilet, cover it with stickers, type a blog post with it, stick a magnet on it and put it on the fridge or just put it in the freezer. I could call it my best friend and watch TV all day with it. I could wrap it up and give it to an elephant for its birthday. I could take it for a walk, with a leash of course. Or I could dip it in the mod podge and put it on the ceiling. But I should probably put it away before I get too carried away.

...and again

and again and again. I just love making these things! Aren't they adorable? I think that they're fantastic and have so many uses. So many, in fact, that I can't seem to be able to use one because I want to save it for exactly the right way.

I've been entertaining my many siblings by making them these little books. They love them! And they are so perfect and feel so much like a real book. Can you tell that I'm proud? Just go ahead and try to dampen my spirit about them, I dare you!

Only a Quote

Work is not measured by how hard it is, but by what the outcome is.

Sometimes outcomes are hard to see when you're in the middle of something, and sometimes they are less material and more internal.

My Title

I was just reading the title of my blog. I know, lame. You'd think I would pay more attention because it IS my blog, right? Well, I was thinking about the reason I named it that. I'll tell you. It is because I wanted to have a cool quote that planted seeds of hope into people's thoughts when they read it. But I realize that this certain quote can have so much more meaning, especially pertaining to a blog.

Dreams inspire, Reality makes it happen.

I'll elaborate
So, you write stuff on a blog, right? You write all about all your hopes, dreams, and even what happens to you. You may even make goals, talk to people, express yourself, complain, show off, learn. But all it is is digital stuff that is stuck in the hardware of your computer; ones and zeroes that display something black, white, red, green, blue on a computer monitor. In the end it actually isn't anything at all. But ideas, thoughts, words, writing...they all inspire something. Your thoughts turn into actions and as you think more about doing something, you think about a way to do it. Your actions can turn your dreams into reality. It may seem too good to be true, but you are a human, meaning you have agency, and that is a power that can turn hopes, wishes, and dreams into living, loving, and wonderfully real things. Another quote: if you can believe it, you can achieve it. Go, live your dream. And when you've accomplished it, find a new one, and live that one too. Today is the first day of a new month, what better time to set a goal with plenty of time to achieve it. And always smile and be happy. When you pretend to be happy, even when you're frustrated, it is hard to remember that you're pretending.

I've done it again

There you have it. My goal for NOT posting until Saturday has flown out the window...again. I officially need to make a more attainable goal. But guess what? I DID IT AGAIN!!!!
I made another book, this time out of necessity. My sister didn't get a yearbook from school this year but she wanted a signature book (and scrapbook-type-thing) so I volunteered to make one for her. And here it is! School colors and all.

I have to admit that though I'm proud, the cover design was mostly of her choosing. But she did give me the credit for it by having a "made by" card to glue into the cover. That made me happy.
(ps again, sorry for the bad quality pics)

Me, being craftsy

I swore I wouldn't post until the twenty-eighth, but I couldn't resist. I was just having so much fun last night, until midnight, making something. (I have to give some credit to my future-and former-roommate, who told me to do something for myself or I wouldn't have even attempted this ;)
I had an old tissue box with a pretty pattern and an old cereal box (without a pretty pattern) and an old patterned paper gift bag that I loved. I just had to do something with them. This is what I came up with:
A little memo book and a journal! They were so much fun to make! I can't wait to use them. Now all I have to do is find a clasp-type-thing to close the journal with. Not sure what to use yet...(if you've got some brilliant ideas, let me know!)
ps sorry about the bad quality pics. I was in a hurry.

Eleven

only 11 days

I am conqueror

I planted these babies a couple days ago. All by myself. They weigh about a ton each - okay, that IS exaggerating a bit too much, but they were very heavy. And prickly. But now they are planted and I Am Conqueror!

Luck

Today is one of the best days of the entire year, not to mention the month of May. It just so happens that it is Friday the thirteenth, a personal day of good luck and happiness and good stuff. I wish you luck in all your endeavors and remember: thirteen is divisible by seven, which is a lucky number, so thirteen is also a lucky number.

Wait

Waiting has got to be the worst thing ever invented.

What makes me REALLY happy!

You know you're living the life when this is what you see when you get up in the morning:and then Mommy says that you can have as much as you want as a nutella-and-jam sandwich.

Peeerrrrrfect. That is when I jump for joy because my family is ginormous. Because Mommy buys everything in bulk, you get a huge tub of nutella to eat as much as you like.

Are you jealous now?

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

I know what this day means to all the mothers out there, especially since I'm the oldest of soon-to-be-eleven children. I look up to my mom in wonder, amazement, and gratitude for all she's done for all of us. I also thank all the women who have been an influence for good in my life and who've taught me all I know today. If I didn't know you, where would I be? Definitely not where I am! So thank you and Happy Mother's Day!

The sky, the sun, the wind, the warm air, and the allergies

Spring just bounces in and everything is absolutely perfect because the air is just the right temperature and the flowers are in bloom and the sky is brilliantly blue with fluffy white clouds. Picture perfect, am I right?
Well, then you have to have the allergy attack. Pollens come with flowers and greening trees and earth and one can't even enjoy it because they can't go outside without sneezing their brains out or rubbing their eyes until you can't open them for the swollen redness. Pathetic. I think allergies are worse than mosquitoes.

May is the month of....

May
I love this month.
It's one of the best.
Not only is my birthday in its borders, but also my friend's
and my sister's
and my other sister's
And it is the month that you are released from school
the month that the pools open
the month when the air starts warming up and you just fall in love with Spring
the month that gets you excited for the wonderful vacation and fun of Summer
and the month that has my birthday in it
wait, did I already mention that? Well, it is practically the best part of the month, so let the sun shine and warm the most wonderful month: May.

YAAAY!!!

I talked to my roommate today! On Skype. It was fantastically relieving. I've been sorta stressed with having to adjust moving home and that just made me feel a little bit better to see her. Besides it totally messing up my afternoon plans and my family's, but hey! It wasn't that bad. AND it was worth it.

With it being the season of Spring and all I've gone outside so many times to take tons of pictures. There are some decent ones that you can see under my pictures tab.

Alright, now for a quote to make you happy, smiley, and hopeful:
"There will come a moment when you realize that virtually anything is possible. Nothing is too good to be true."

Ummm, it snowed

And it is the end of April.
Please, give me a break!
I want warm wind and sunshine and flowers!
Now, I get to build a snowman.

Officially

I am officially excited.
For Summer
For my new baby sister
For my birthday
For my friends' birthdays
For my family reunion (which will be by the ocean!!!)
For the letters in the mail
For the books I'm going to read
For school being over
For next fall and the year after that and pretty much everything awesome that will ever happen to me again.
Now is just a happy time. That's what spring does to me. I just get all excited.

Have a happy day!!!
(I wish I had an awesome quote to illuminate life to you all, but that is just a little slow coming so hang in there for when I do.)

April Showers bring May Flowers

I love spring. And it is raining and it is beautiful. It is a good, spring rain and I'm excited for May, when it gets really warm and you can spend all day outside, getting a sunburn.

PICNIC!

WHOA!!
LOVE LOVE love the weather. And the sun. And the green grass. AND the fact that I had a picnic today! The funnest one I've had ALL year. Actually, the first one of the year. But it was so much fun that it began the year of picnicking off JUST right. I love it!

I also love donuts.

Doodles

Lately I've been enjoying doodling on paper. In my sketch book, to be exact. Here are some scans of the ones that are most interesting, good, or otherwise pleasant to see. I'll not include the ones that make it painfully obvious that I'm not an artist. Enjoy, there should be more on my images tab, up at the top of the page.

Please remember that THESE ARE JUST DOODLES. I'm not that good, I just have fun drawing!

HIIIIIII!

Never mind.....
I'm going to write in my journal.

:)

OK, i'll give you a quote:
life may give you lemons, and you may feel like squeezing them, but let me warn you-lemonade doesn't taste that great without sugar!

Ice Skating

One of the most wonderful experiences and feelings I get is when I go ice skating or take someone else ice skating. I LOVE IT!!! And then you fall and get a bruise on your chin and your shoulder and you get a kink in your neck and you get a sore leg. Yep, I love ice skating...still.
You know, when you're going really fast and you just let yourself glide along and you put your arms out you just feel like you could be flying. Absolutely Amazing

Talking

on the phone.
so old fashioned, right?
I mean, texting is so much more normal.
That's why you expect to open your phone and read something instead of talk to someone.
I mean, it's so much easier to show affection to a piece of metal.

Monday

Today is not Monday. It is Wednesday. But, for the sake of reminiscing, I shall call it Monday. Actually Wednesday sounds a lot better to me, because Monday really didn't light my fire. Today had better be better than a Monday. Unless your favorite day of the week is Monday, let's all enjoy Wednesday for being Wednesday.

(Actually, apart from that, today is a very special day. Today is the anniversary of the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Remember that! And it is Christ's birthday, his real birthday. Aren't you excited for Easter!)

First

So, the end of March is come and gone. Now you have to start off aPril right.
I find that the first is a very important concept. I am the first child of my parents; that means a lot of different things, like being the first to go to college, the first to get chosen to change a diaper, or the first to establish a standard.
First is so cool, like what's the first letter of your name? Or what's the first flower to bloom in the spring? Or your first house as a family, or your first pet bird, or your first kiss, or first birthday, or first day of April in 2011. Actually this is the only april first, 2011 ever. THere is never going to be another day to replace this one. What if you look back in time and look at all those April firsts? What will make this one stand out? What will you do to remember today as a WOnDERfUL DAy rather than just another day in April? Make every day count, never let one go by without remembering that you can't live it again. Smile, make a new friend, be happy, enjoy the sunshine, I'll see you on Monday!

Thursday, March 31, 2011

Wow!

What a great day! The rest of today had better be as good as the few hours of bliss I've had this morning. One thing I'm afraid of, with this blog, is not writing in my journal as much as I do on the blog...that would be sort of dorky, in my opinion. I think I'm okay with this month, but if I ever stop posting, you'll know why (it's because I'm trying to write my thoughts somewhere more meaningful and I seriously don't have that many thoughts to write so I've got to put them where it counts, you know, divide them evenly).
Well, have you a good day, like me!

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

I'M READY!

Now that school and other random obligations are over for the day and I have nothing really very important to stress about, I can look forward to the weekend. I am so excited because it will be a blast. Plus, I'm going to get spiritually saturated the whole two days. Very nice. Anyway, after that all I have to look forward to is Summer and vacation, which in and of itself is pretty exciting. I hope you are looking forward to it, because if you aren't you can go live in Antarctica, where there isn't any summer and you won't have to worry about it any more.
Enjoy your weekend, and your summer, and your spring (which is so much better than summer, in my opinion).

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Uh, okay. This is all I could think of

I just typed in, like, ten titles that could have worked perfectly well for a post, but none of the entries I could think of to go with those titles would have been at all interesting, beneficial, or funny in any way to you. So I went with this one, that describes my ineptness at finding something more intelligent.
Huh, I think it worked.

Thursday, March 24, 2011

What can one say?

Cool title, not so cool story. Actually there is no story, so....
I know!--I'll make one up!

So I was walking up the sidewalk to my class and someone stopped me by putting their hand on my arm, like they wanted to tell me something really important. He had this really serious face on and just looked into my eyes. Talk about strange. I was instantly weirded out and just waited for something crazy. He told me that my hair was long. Then walked away. I was speechless, and he was probably laughing his head off at the face I didn't know I was making. I still try not to be afraid of everyone around me, avoiding eye contact, etc. I don't really want that to happen again. Still, what are you supposed to say to that?

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Welcome Spring!

Yesterday, the first official day of spring, welcomed it with grey skies, then rain and snow (at the same time!), and then sun and a strong wind. It was very interesting as well that today it was snowing! I love spring, but March is just a little too crazy to be taken seriously.
Enjoy your spring!!

Rain Clouds

Today I woke up and it was gray outside because the sun wasn't up yet. Then I went to breakfast and it was still gray, because the clouds were dark and covering the sun. And yet it was warm enough to go outside without my jacket. It is still gray outside and I wish the rain would just start falling, so I can be happy. The tension in the air makes me want to do something, but I don't know what to do so I'll just beg the sky to let go and drown us in its tears.

Spiritual Thought #4

People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did and what you look like, but they will always remember what you made them feel.
"There is one responsibility that no one can evade. That is the effect of one's personal influence."
-David O. Mckay
You can't change another person, you can only change yourself. But you can influence them for good and radiate feelings, which, in turn, can cause them to change.

This is a beautiful book. It is one I grew up with and I absolutely love it. It is such a loving story and though it is simple, it is powerful.

Look Up

That sounds a lot cooler than what you may think it means. I'll go off of your expectations though, just to entertain us.
What is above you right now? Is it a roof, the sky, your bed? (because you totally read blogs secretly under your bed.) What does that mean to you? Are you grateful for that roof, especially on those rainy days? Is it a blue sky that reminds you of Spring or Summer? Does that bed provide you with the only privacy you have in a day?
Look at things around you and be grateful for them. Don't forget something just because it is always there. Something above you is not often seen, but if you thought about it you'd be grateful for it every day of your life.

And, if it interests you, there are pictures on a couple pages of this blog. The tabs are right under the title at the top of the page. Let me know what you think about them!

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

The Sun

I absolutely, without a doubt, with all my heart, no exceptions, love the sun.
The way it is always there, yet mysterious.
The way it is so huge and has such an impact on us, but is so far away.
The way it makes you warm, happy, and able to see.
I just love it!

Monday, February 28, 2011

The End

Wow, only twenty-eight days. Makes it seem like it goes so fast. It is the same amount of days in a year, and each day only goes by as fast as a day. Still, this month was fast. And it's over! How did you do? What goals did you accomplish? What will you work on next month? Make sure you write it down, or it isn't a goal, it's only a daydream, or a wish, and those don't do anything, but goals do. So make a goal, either a new one or a renewal of an old one.

It's not the end,
It's the Beginning

Saturday, February 26, 2011

So...

Yesterday was really disappointing.
That snow that I was excited about...
yeah, it all melted away.

But, this morning I woke up to more snow!
Exciting, but I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that it will stay.

Anyway, here's a quote to make you smile (or cry, if that is the case):
Regrettably, pepperoni pizza has been shown to be capable of producing significant weight loss only if it is never removed from the box.
-City Upon a Hill (Frank Fox & Clayne Pope)

Friday, February 25, 2011

Cool

Literally.

It snowed (finally) and I hope this time it's going to stay for a while. I'm getting tired of the 'Spring' feel that I know will be disappointed. I love Spring, but in February? PLEASE give me some more snow!

Anyway, there are a lot of things that are cool, besides refrigerators, ice cream, and air conditioning. I like to think that insects are cool, and occasionally spiders. Dinosaurs are definitely on the cool list, and that leads to dragons. Cats have to be cool, but in the sleek, sophisticated way. Cool is technology that does stuff that people wouldn't imagine could be done fifty years ago(or a hundred, or two hundred).

And you are cool, too. Just for being there, being your awesome self. You are cool because, though there may be someone out there with your same opinion on one thing, and another person with the same talent, and someone else that has the same name as you, you are the only one with all those things put together. You are the only one who thinks the way you do, because no one has lived the exact same life as you. That makes you cool, because you are you.

Reading Books

I love getting lost in the story of a good fantasy book. It is so different from this world. I love being able to see the story, see the big picture, and see how it works out. It makes me want to make a story and write it down so other people can read it and be happy.

Nothing Better To Do

That is probably never true. You can always find something better to do than sitting at your computer and ranting on a blog those things that you would never say out loud. I think it is an excuse. The truth is that you have other things to do, you just don't want to do them. Blogging is either a bigger priority or it is a better option than, say, homework. And reading a blog is a little less than useless, since you aren't even thinking or typing, you're just staring at a computer screen, reading someone's useless rant about life that they would never say out loud.

Paper

Something that is one of the most useful inventions and a really awesome thing that I am eternally grateful for is paper. I love love love it! It is so useful. You can fold it into a note, or a mouse. You can write on it or draw on it. You can print a book on it or a picture. If you need to you can burn it for a fire...I bet it makes a very pretty fire. My room would explode in beautiful flames if there were even a spark (it's full of paper: origami models, books, notes, memos, plain white paper just sitting there, etc.) I think I would prefer that not to happen. Though fire is beautiful, I prefer my origami.

Blue

Sometimes people associate the color blue with being sad.

I disagree

Blue is one of those wonderful colors. You can use it to express sadness but its beauty is so brilliant I wonder sometimes how it ever began to be sad.

Blue is the color of the sky, when the sun is up there setting it on fire and the sky just reflects this wash of blue, a protection and canvas.

Blue is the color of the ocean just sitting out there, all that water full of life but from where we are it's only blue, or the lake up in the mountains that sits like a mirror, showing you the endless blue of the magnificent sky and you stare into it and get lost in eternity.

Blue is the color of a baby's eyes, or your sister's eyes, or the eyes of that boy, or the eyes of your friend, or the first thing you see when you look at someone's picture. You can get lost in those too, you know.

Blue is the color that mixes with red to make purple or with yellow to make green. It compliments orange.

Blue is one of those colors that you don't see, but you would notice if it were gone. It sits behind everything, making those bigger, important-er colors stand out, but without blue, they wouldn't be anything.

YAY

I am really happy because my plant is miraculously growing right now. There was one little part of it that, sadly, my bird chewed off. I thought it was dead but it was still green so I left it in the pot and now I got the surprise of my life to see it growing a new leaf! Yay hooray! Growing things make me so happy. :)

Spiritual Thought #3

Alma 53:20-21
We should be like the stripling warriors. We need to be valiant, courageous, strong, active, honest, true, trustworthy, sober, teachable, and righteous. We need to always remember why we are here on Earth and align our actions with that knowledge.

The end of January

The first month of the new year is almost over! How did you do? Did you start off 2011 with a good, positive attitude? Well, it's not too late to do it, if you haven't and if you have, good for you! This year will be a good one, but only if you make it that way. Just take a day at a time and make it happy and fun!

Origami

Something that is really good for entertaining yourself is reading a book. Getting into a story is very fun and you learn a lot of new words for your vocabulary. One book that isn't that good for reading all the way through, though, is an Origami book. What you have to do is get a square piece of paper and turn to the instructions for the model you want to make and follow them. Personally, it's as easy as that. A very simple pass-time. I enjoy it like someone would enjoy playing their sport or watching TV. It is very relaxing as long as you are folding on the level that you are at. Otherwise, it can be difficult, but who doesn't like a good challenge? You can totally defeat that uncooperative piece of paper and make it a flower!

Home Sickness?

I sometimes get homesick for the ocean. I love it so much and it is so beautiful and I wish I could visit it more often.
I've never had a home there, though. Does that mean that that feeling that I have isn't homesickness? It feels just like it, but towards the ocean.
hmmmm.....

Music (2)

"Music, of all the liberal arts, has the greatest influence over the passions."
-Napoleon Bonaparte
I absolutely love classical music played on string instruments. And when those artists playing it really show their passion for that music, it makes you want to go back in time and see it again, and hear it again, and live it again. There is just something about live music that is so beautiful that you can't resist loving it.

My Friend

I have this awesome friend who is an awesome artist. She is really really really really good. So look her up! She has a blog (mariekejeromin.blogspot.com) and a website (www.mariekejeromin.de). So spread the news and check it out. She is really cool. She does business cards, cartoons, and almost anything you could ask for. You could just search for Marieke Jeromin on Google and that also gets you to these sites. *Marieke: if you don't want this here, just leave me a comment and I'll take it off, no problem.* Ummmm, is that all? Spiritual Thought #2

"If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed nothing shall be impossible unto you"

Thursday, January 20, 2011

just do it

even if you aren't ready
you should do it
experience new things
make stuff happen
when you don't want to
but only because it's out of your comfort zone
go through with it anyway
what will you find that you didn't know before?
how will you grow from what you learn from it?
will you regret that you didn't do it, when you reflect back?
what will you discover, by doing things you're afraid of?
you might find a new talent
love
enjoyment
you may see the world from a new perspective
and maybe you'll have a lot of fun
making a fool of yourself
and loving it

On top of the World!

I have the happiness of someone who is standing on top of the world and can see everything below them. Being happy is one of the most beneficial things to someone's character, I believe. I think that you can more truly be yourself when you have true joy. In that context, you can find your passions by measuring your happiness when you have experienced something or are doing something.

Happy Day

Even when sad, bad, hard, difficult things happen, you can be a happy, optimistic, sadjuistic, smiling person. Right now, I have a lot of homework, I have a cough, and I don't know where I'm going, just that it is forward. And right now I am a happy person. Just remember:
"If the world didn't suck we would all fall off."

New Year!

This year is 2011, so make it the best 2011 ever. This is the only January 2nd in 2011 and it's the same with all the other days of this year. This is your only time to live this day, so make it worth it and make it un-regrettable. It's only as good as you make it!
And have a Happy New Year! ;)

SNOW

Yesterday, I thought I'd found the snow that we'd been missing for the past couple weeks. Well, it turns out I was wrong. After snowing all day yesterday and most of the night, we have at least a foot of snow and much more than that on our piles of shoveled snow. Wow, amazing! This is so much fun! Our district even canceled school for the first time in yeeeaaars! I thought that yesterday was fun with a ton of good packing snow but today, that's a different story.

What ever happened to the snow?

Well, I FOUND IT!!!
I never thought the snow would come and now, out of nowhere, it suddenly dumps a load on us. I love the snow and it just didn't feel like the Christmas season without it. Well, Now It Does! It has been snowing all day, all morning. I LOVE it!

Rocks simply rock

Sometimes I wish I were a Rock. Yep, that's about it. But I love rocks. They are solid, perfectly unique, scientific, constant, and there are so many types of them. That's why you can never have a perfectly complete rock collection. Unless you have all the rocks you want, then it is perfect to you. I love rocks...because they rock! (guess what, I love mountains, which are basically huge rocks!)

Laugh

"Learn to laugh at yourself. A sense of humor can make a bad day a lot better."
When you are feeling depressed and sorry for yourself, just look in from the outside and see yourself. What do you see? Do you see someone having fun, being happy, enjoying life? Or do you see someone being a little unintelligent, not noticing the good around them, missing out on life? Isn't it just a little bit ridiculous? Laugh at it, laugh it off and get on with life. You can make your life the way you want it to be.
