But for now, the hero has pushed them back and all the kingdom is safe again.

Learn From Our Lemons
This is so great. The newspaper article on this video was called making lemonade out of lemons.

Comment
Then I didn't see any recent posts that I had a comment opinion about so I came to my blog to comment here.
Well, I challenge all of you to comment on this comment. And to make an interesting post out of this comment instead of sitting there, in your chair, keeping your opinion selfishly to yourself.
I wonder who reads the comments anyway?
Do You?

Some Not So Nice Poetry
A Dream Deferred
by Langston Hughes
Or fester like a sore--and then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--like a syrupy sweet?

Some Very Nice Poetry
1.
SEASON of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells.
2.
Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
Or on a half-reap’d furrow sound asleep,
Drows’d with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook;
Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.
3.
Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—
While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
And touch the stubble plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

Scratch
scratching letters,
but I can't hear
the story they tell.
I myself
write down stories
and listen to
the tale they sound.
A new language
spoke by pencils
and mysterious
still to hear.
What new story
might be written
you can hear
but cannot tell.

Christmas
I had a wonderful Christmas that, though not quite what I expected. It was a great experience and everyone is happy and we all learned something, I think (I hope).
Now we get to look forward to the new year! This is my second blogging Christmas and here I am, looking back at the year and saying that I didn't blog enough but I sure did write in my journal!

Christmas Eve
Presents are hiding in corners and couches.
Tomorrow the children will all be gathered
and tissue paper, boxes, bags and wrappers
will cover the floor, the tables and chairs
as presents are given, opened, and shared.
Aren't you looking forward to it? No matter how much work it takes to get to that point, it is worth it to see smiles on your family's faces!
I just love Christmas!
Merry Christmas

Conglomeration
Eremophobia: The morbid dread of being alone.
Kakorrhaphiophobia: An abnormal fear of failure.
Phobophobia: An excessive fear of acquiring a phobia.
Don't be afraid of getting these...I'm sure they're not too much of an acquired trait.

Words
“The pages are still blank, but there is a miraculous feeling of the words all being there, written in invisible ink and clamoring to become visible.”
– Vladimir Nabokov, Lectures on Literature, 1980
“The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one's real and one's declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish spurting out ink.”
– George Orwell, "Politics and the English Language," 1946
“For there is no doubt that I have lots of words inside me; but at moments, like rush-hour traffic at the mouth of a tunnel, they jam.”
– John Updike, Self-Consciousness, 1989
“The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter – it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.”
– Mark Twain, 1888
“'Well,' said Owl, 'the customary procedure in such cases is as follows.'
'What does Crustimoney Proseedcake mean?'
said Pooh. 'For I am a Bear of Very Little Brain, and long words Bother me.'
'It means the Thing to Do.'
'As long as it means that, I don’t mind,' said Pooh humbly.'”
– A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh, 1926
I found these wonderful quotes on Merriam-Webster.com. They are part of the Top 10 Favorite Quotations About Words list. I really enjoyed these quotes.

Should have Yesterday
Wish
star light
star bright
I wish I may I wish I might
have the wishes I wish tonight
I wish to have the world in my hands
I want it all; I wish for sweet dreams
happily ever afters
and lots to laugh at
I wish for
what do you wish for?
